Watch maintenance
Every watch is a complex and precise mechanism, continuously exposed to various external influences – temperature changes, water, etc. The oils used to lubricate the mechanism age over time and lose their properties, which leads to difficulties in the mechanism's operation and possible wear of its components. Over time, the components begin to move more slowly, resulting in deviations in time measurement. For this reason, a watch should undergo periodic inspections and servicing.
The preventive maintenance of a watch includes a thorough servicing of the mechanism and its case. Diagnostics include identifying problems and parts that need replacement. The entire mechanism is disassembled, with each part inspected individually and replaced if signs of wear or other issues are found. Afterward, the mechanism is cleaned in a special ultrasonic cleaning machine. Once the cleaning is completed, the watch is reassembled, lubricated at the necessary places, and then centered and tested.
Meanwhile, the case is disassembled into its components – if the customer desires – polished to restore its original appearance, and cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, after which it is reassembled and all gaskets are replaced with new ones. When reassembled, the entire watch undergoes accuracy testing in 6 standardized positions, a water-resistance test in a vacuum chamber, and is then placed on a watch winder (cyclomat) – a device that simulates wrist movement to check long-term accuracy.
Regular maintenance to avoid costly repairs also includes testing for water resistance. We recommend that your watch undergoes a water-resistance test every year. The procedure is simple and takes only a few minutes using specialized equipment.
